Cave City Cannabis in Carlsbad NM was looking for a commercial they could use on a few podcasts as well as their social media.
The Dabb Dadds, a local podcast out of Roswell NM needed an intro to kick off their weekly stream. They cover everything from cannabis culture in NM, conspiracy theories, and just being dads. So the goal was to have some fun and set the tone for the show.
The Gortach of Missouri is a folklore creature that Route 66 Labs created for Cannabis Camp. The events ran into issues with the venues but the monster lived on as a documentary. Cheech and Chong meets Blair Witch is the most accurate description.
Contemporary Analysis is a data science consulting firm that needed something that grabbed peoples attention. The resulting video is about as high energy as data science can get, but worked well.
In addition to doing much of the marketing leading up to MOCANNAFEST the vast majority of the digital assets were created by Route 66 Labs.
Working with the Costa Rican Government and the organizers of the Cannabis Science & Industry Congress I was tasked with pre-recording the experts from around the globe and then live streaming 12 hours a day (2 stages 6 hours each) from Costa Rica. The clip above is just an example of the digital assets created by Route 66 Labs.
On top of creating an entire event based on the Cannabis Camp theme Route 66 Labs created a folklore monster. The Gortach of Missouri is tied into actual historic events as well as embodies prohibitionist mindsets. Everything from well placed factoids, updated wikipedia pages, and even endorsements by people “in the know” has lead people to believe this is real. We’ve had several people inquire if this was a marketing stunt or an actual piece of forgotten folklore.
The Gortach of Missouri was written, directed, edited, and promoted with Route 66 Labs at the helm. This project is the ground work for a large event this year with thousands in attendence.
